A WALLET THAT'S YOURS

One extension. A world of onchain.

Coinbase Wallet is a self-custody wallet: you hold the keys, and you’re responsible for keeping your recovery phrase safe. Use it to manage supported crypto assets and connect to decentralized apps.

01

Choose the official extension

Start from Coinbase’s official Wallet page and follow its link to the browser extension. Check the publisher and URL before installing.

4 STEPS · YOUR PACE
A QUICK SECURITY CHECK

Keep your wallet
in your hands.

Self-custody gives you control, and that comes with a few important habits.

Learn to spot scams
01

Keep your recovery phrase private

Never paste it into a website, chat, email, or form. Coinbase cannot recover a self-custody wallet from your phrase.

02

Verify the site before you connect

Check the domain carefully. A familiar logo is not proof that a page is legitimate.

03

Read transaction requests

Understand what you’re approving. If a request feels unexpected, reject it and double-check.

NEED A LITTLE MORE?

Frequently
asked questions.

Get the basics before you start exploring.

Is Coinbase Wallet the same as my Coinbase account?

No. Coinbase Wallet is a self-custody wallet that you control. It is separate from a Coinbase account where Coinbase may custody assets on your behalf.

What is a recovery phrase?

It is a secret backup that can restore access to a self-custody wallet. Store it offline, keep it private, and never share it with anyone—even someone claiming to be support.

Where should I get the browser extension?

Begin at coinbase.com/wallet and use the official links there. Avoid sponsored search results and links sent in unsolicited messages.

What if I think I found a scam?

Do not connect your wallet or share information. Visit the official Coinbase Help Center directly to find current security guidance and reporting options.
